December’s Theme:
Bertrand Russell wrote, “Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth -- more than ruin -- more even than death.... Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid."

What do you fear? New things? Ideas? Doing things outside of your normal, everyday routines?

December’s theme touches on thought, fear, the everyday normal and/or revolutions. We will begin taking December's submissions, on November 16, 2010 and the deadline is December 15th. Notification of the winner will be announced December 25, 2010.

It's Right There....reach

Good Day to you Sacred,
This morning I was having a conversation with a friend. We were discussing how sometimes the things we want and need seem to be just out of reach..but for some people they always seem to be able to reach their dreams..
Tell me what is just out of reach for you ...Or tell what has been just out of reach and is now attainable.

Use these words:

piquant
increments
incursion
conformist

venerable

cry, cry , baby

Good Afternoon Sacred,
I know a new inspiration has been a long time coming, but I do know a couple of you would like an opportunity to write

Had a good cry lately? Maybe you could: It's good for your spirit - and your body.I have learned that our bodies heal well when our emotional currents are cleared with tears.
There are all kinds of tears, tears of happiness, rage, fear, frustration, shame, relief, I could go on and on, but I think you get it.

write from the heart, the soul, and maybe release some healing tears,

Sass

When the shell of my heart breaks open, tears shall pour forth and they shall be called the pearls of god.”
- Rumi, 13th Century poet

Are you tame, feral or truly wild?

Today's challenge is easy. We all show our "tame" face to the world, for the most part. We are compliant. We obey. We concede. For some of us - it is our nature to do so. But for others, like me - we are feral by nature. We lack trust, maybe we lack social graces...and sometimes - we are truly wild. The creature inside us would rather cave to a stalk/bite/kill reflex than concede to what ever master....one more time.

So tell me about your "inner spirit" - are you tame? Are you a loving puppy, curled up at the feet of your master? Are you waiting to bust out the back door? Or are you waiting for that moment to choke the life out of someone and gnaw an ankle?

Be as "physical" or as "emotional/Spritual" as you like. Write your chaos. Bring your black ink. Let your inner monster out if you have one.

Peace.

Comic relief

Today's offering (a day early as I have projects on Saturday) is very simple.

Make me laugh. I've had enough gloom, doom and self absorption to last a life time. Write something that makes a person chuckle, grin or LOL. Write a silly poem, a limerick, a short story or just a paragraph or two from your life.

If your funny bone is completely broken - share your favorite repeatable joke. We all need a laugh...

peace.

Return to your innocence

The offering today is simple - at least in theory. Lately, life has been so complicated, busy, disappointing, painful etc. I've found that my situation has eclipsed my writing. I am either churning out moody, self absorbed pieces, or I am numb...not writing at all. As a writer, I believe I am not alone - getting get so wrapped up in my head, in the day to day mess that I completely forget there are so many other moments to a life that can be brought to paper.

In this challenge, I want you to reach back - get outside of yourself, your head, and your immediate situation. I want you to write about a time in your life when you were experiencing joy. Maybe when you were a young child, or a preteen....maybe you have a specific friend or family member that always "lifted you up" - a grandparent...a favorite vacation spot - write about that untainted place in your past - or that person perhaps that never brought you sorrow. And here is the "Real challenge" - don't use your dark ink. Keep the poem positive. No blood, no pain, no sorrow. We have enough of that in our daily lives and we spill enough ink about it. For this piece only - write from your happy place. Dig deep if you have to....

Peace.

The pictures are only for inspiration. What I would love to see would be you as a child, or a picture of your favorite place - or person.

If you could publish it....

I attended a womens' conference last night and today - and there was something mentioned this morning that stuck with me. It came from the verse below:

The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it. Psalms 68:11

As a writer - the word publish has significant meaning for me. It is a dream, a desire - a goal, so it resonates. But the root word in the time Psalms was written meant this:

בּשׂר

bâśar

baw-sar'

A primitive root; properly to be fresh, that is, full (rosy, figuratively cheerful); to announce (glad news): - messenger, preach, publish, shew forth, (bear, bring, carry, preach, good, tell good) tidings.

That meaning - to publish - to be fresh brought a whole new dimension of understanding to my soul. What is it that you "publish" with your mouth, with your pen? Are you "fresh" - are you full of life and joy? Perhaps more than any other group - we writers are known by our words...in fact - we are our words.

As writers, we "publish" per our current definition - we put words out there...are they fresh words? Is there an area of your writing that isn't so "fresh" (If you're hearing Kool and the Gang in your head, yup, do your thing...dance to it) I know that I struggle with what I "publish" and I need a fresh start, fresh words, fresh inspiration....maybe you already have that. So the offering is this: if you could publish something for the world to read - would it be fresh, joyous - write a break out poem

...or would you even want it to be "fresh"?

the pictures are optional to get you started...

You're always free to put the Christian spin on this offering but its not mandatory

Peace

resurrection reveiled

For many Christian's tomorrow is the definitive celebration of who and what Christianity is - the resurrection of the Christian savior, Christ. If you are a Christian - you are welcome to use this weekend's offering and pictures to poetically inspire you to share your faith with the room.

However, I also want to encourage you to go deeper, go different if you will. Those of you who are not Christian - or do not believe in Christ as Savior - or in the resurrection - I hope that this offering will still inspire you to poetically define your own thoughts about resurrection. What or who would you "Bring back" if you could. What would you like to see restored in your life? Tell us about it.

For those inclined to write with darker ink - maybe there is something within you that you would not want to resurrect...or maybe you already have. On this side of the veil - light and dark are always present. in poetry and in life.

As always - the offering is completely optional and the pictures are simply placed to inspire you.

If you are reading this on multiply - please consider visiting the home of Sacred songspace at http://secludedparadise.yuku.com

Peace and blessings.

abandoned

the offering today is simple:  We have all experienced abandonment, either on a physical, or emotional level. We have all visited those places in our environment or our dreams where something precious is now in ruin, disarray...abandoned. We look at the decay and remember how beautiful, how special that place used to be.

Show us that place again. Describe the beauty that you still see in that abandoned place. Breathe life into it.

The pictures are for your inspiration. If you can't resurrect something abandoned, then simply define the word in poetry. short fiction, or journal entry.

Peace.

please remember to drop by the new Songspace home at http://secludedparadise.yuku.com

peace.

Creature Creator

Do you worship/gravitate to/consider the creature or the creator? Do you find yourself focused on physical life, growth or do you lean more toward the spiritual side? Tell me your thoughts in short fiction or poetry...this doesn't have to be about "religion" or "faith" just explore what "creature" and "creator" mean to you. Are you the "creature" or the "creator" - perhaps you are both...Do you sit in the big chair? Are you sheltered in someone else's hands? Share your thoughts with the room.

The pictures are just here to inspire you...Tammy

please consider posting your work at http://secludedparadise.yuku.com - right click copy has been disabled and your work is protected there - you can find this offering on the open poetry and inspirations page. I hope you will go visit all the amazing poets there. peace
